Registration can be achieved using two methods as follows:
- One can be registered independently by the parent through an online onboarding portal – for parents with lines already being used by their children.
- One can visit any Safaricom shop or a Safaricom agent, buy a line, and get directly registered.
What You Need To Know About M-PESA GO.
To sign up for M-PESA Go, parents and guardians can self-onboard an already registered SIM card via the self-onboarding portal or visit any Safaricom outlet. To onboard a child, a parent must have a clear copy of the child’s birth certificate to upload onto the self-onboarding portal. They will be required to have an active SIM card registered on M-PESA, a valid identification document, and the child’s birth certificate.
As a parent, you can register up to four M-PESA GO Accounts under your profile.
When visiting a Safaricom shop, the parent does not have to visit the shop with their child. However, they must present the original copy of the child’s certificate at the shop.
If you have an unregistered line, it can still be registered on M-PESA GO. However
you must visit a Safaricom Shop where the line will be registered directly.
A parent or a guardian can register a new line directly on M-PESA GO on the Safaricom network at a Safaricom shop using the parent’s information to capture the child’s details.
An already registered line(s) can be converted/moved to M-PESA GO by visiting the self-onboarding portal. You will verify your identification details and then provide the child’s details that you wish to convert to M-PESA GO.
After registering your child’s account on the self-onboarding portal, you’ll need to add the new line to your profile.
A child using an M-PESA GO account cannot request a sim swap. Only a parent/guardian can call Safaricom customer care on behalf of the M-PESA GO customer to ask for a sim swap. Your KYC details will be used for the vetting process.
For all reversal requests, the parent will be required to give consent since the M-PESA GO customer is under the age of 18.
The M-PESA GO Account will have normal M-PESA account transactional limits, and charges will apply to all M-PESA GO children’s accounts.
For any support or product queries, a child can access Safaricom Customer Care on Line 100 or Line 200 for GSM-related issues and Line 234 for all M-PESA-related issues on their account. However, for all requests about the M-PESA GO account – e.g., reversal, sim swaps, etc., only the parent can give consent.

If a line you wish to convert to an M-PESA GO account has a loan and savings product such as Mshwari, KCB M-PESA, Halal PESA, or FULIZA, you can still register it on M-PESA GO. Yes. However, if you have an outstanding loan or savings, you must repay it and transfer/withdraw your savings.
